Stockton, CA – Ad Art Electronics recently completed a significant upgrade to the pylon sign at Stockton Auto Mall, a project that presented a unique set of challenges. THE CHALLENGE:

A primary obstacle was the great distance between the existing LED screens and the internet-connected control equipment which used multi-mode fiber optic cable for the data connection. This gap was too significant to provide the necessary bandwidth for the high-resolution data signals required by the new LED screens. The project also required a complete re-skinning of the pylon sign without altering its overall footprint. This meant that the new design had to be meticulously engineered to fit within the original framework while presenting a fresh, modern aesthetic. Furthermore, the new sign had to align perfectly with Stockton Auto Mall's established branding. Compounding these challenges was the customer's modest budget.

THE SOLUTION:

To solve the fiber optic limitation, Ad Art Electronics implemented a creative data transmission solution, ensuring seamless and vibrant content display on the new digital screens. By simply moving the control equipment to the inside of the sign enclosure, the existing fiber optic cable could then be used for Internet connectivity instead of higher demand LED signal data, which requires much greater bandwidth.

To ensure the new sign sections would fit the existing structure, the Ad Art Electronics team skillfully managed to transform the sign's appearance with an exact fit while maintaining structural integrity. Ad Art Electronics worked closely with the client to ensure that the colors, fonts, and overall design language of the new sign were consistent with the auto mall's marketing materials and brand identity. This attention to detail resulted in a final product that is both innovative and true to the customer's familiar look and feel.
